Clear Drains, Fewer Headaches

Your drains carry away everything from sinks, tubs, showers, dishwashers, washing machines and toilets. When they work, you never think about them. When they don't, you get slow water, bad smells and backups.

Crowebird cleans out clogs in kitchen sinks, bathroom sinks, showers, tubs, toilets, floor drains and the main sewer line. We find what is causing the problem, clear it and tell you plainly whether it is a one-time clog or a sign of something deeper in the line.

Signs you need drain cleaning

  • Sinks or tubs that drain slowly
  • Gurgling sounds from your pipes
  • Water backing up into other fixtures
  • Foul smells coming from drains
  • Clogs that keep coming back
  • Standing water around floor drains

These signs usually point to buildup, a blockage deeper in the line or a problem with the main sewer line.

Where clogs start

Common Household Drains and What Clogs Them

Every drain in your home has its own usual suspects. Knowing them helps you spot trouble early.

1

Kitchen sink drains

Handle food particles, grease and dishwater. Fats, oils, starches and coffee grounds clog them fastest.

2

Bathroom sink drains

Usually slowed by hair, soap scum, toothpaste and cosmetics building up over time.

3

Shower and tub drains

Hair and soap buildup are the main culprits. Slow draining is the first sign of an issue.

4

Toilet drains

Designed for human waste and toilet paper only. Wipes, paper towels and foreign objects cause most clogs.

5

Floor drains

Found in garages, laundry rooms, basements, and restaurants. They collect excess water and prevent flooding, so a clog can flood the room.

Prevention

What Should Never Go Down Your Drains

A few habits prevent most of the clogs we see. Here is what to keep out, and how to protect your pipes.

Kitchen

  • Grease, fats and oils
  • Coffee grounds
  • Pasta, rice and potatoes
  • Eggshells
  • Fibrous foods like celery and onion skins

Bathroom

  • Hair (use a drain screen)
  • Excess soap
  • Dental floss
  • Cotton balls, wipes and feminine products
  • Paper towels

Toilets

  • Flush only toilet paper and human waste
  • Nothing else, including "flushable" wipes

How to prevent drain problems

  • Use drain strainers in sinks, tubs and showers.
  • Run hot water after using the sink to help clear oils.
  • Avoid chemical drain cleaners. They can damage your pipes.
  • Schedule professional drain cleaning once a year.
  • Let grease cool, then throw it away instead of pouring it down the drain.
Main sewer line

When Every Drain Backs Up at Once

If several drains clog at the same time, or sewage backs up into your home, the problem is usually the main sewer line. Common causes are:

  • Tree root intrusion
  • Pipe collapse or sagging
  • Wipes and foreign objects
  • Grease buildup

Lines like this often need professional equipment: a drain auger, hydro jetting for severe buildup or a sewer camera inspection to see what is happening inside the pipe.

Drain services we offer

  • Routine drain cleaning
  • Main sewer line snaking
  • Hydro jetting for severe buildup
  • Camera inspections to find hidden issues
  • Repair or replacement of damaged pipes
  • Preventative maintenance

Drain Cleaning Questions

Answers to what Fort Myers and Cape Coral homeowners ask us about clogged drains. Have another question? Just text us.

Text Your Question
How much does drain cleaning cost?

We price drain cleaning at a flat rate, so you know the total before we start. When we can quote from a photo, we give you the price over the phone for free. Text a picture of the problem to 239-286-8946.

Should I use chemical drain cleaners?

We recommend against them. Chemical drain cleaners can damage your pipes and rarely fix the real cause of a clog. Mechanical cleaning removes the clog instead of just eating a hole through it.

Why are multiple drains backing up at the same time?

When several drains clog at once, or sewage backs up into a tub or shower, the blockage is usually in the main sewer line. Tree roots, grease buildup, wipes and damaged pipe are the most common causes, and it needs professional equipment.

What is the difference between drain cleaning and hydro jetting?

Drain cleaning with a snake or auger breaks up or pulls out a clog so water can flow again. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the whole inside of the pipe. Jetting is the better fix when a line keeps clogging.

How often should drains be professionally cleaned?

Once a year is a good rule for most homes, and more often if you have trees near your sewer line, cook with a lot of grease or have a history of clogs.

Can you find out what is causing my clog?

Yes. If a drain keeps clogging or several fixtures back up, we can run a sewer camera through the line to see roots, cracks, sagging sections or buildup before recommending a fix.
